In my previous post I wrote how to check unlock eligibility of your iPhone 4 4.11.08 baseband. Finally today AT&T has started unlocking Off-Contract iPhones.
Last week AT&T reported that they will start to unlocking off-contract iPhone's for free, starting from April 8th.
All AT&T iPhone customers who've paid all their taxes, can now contact AT&T support with a online chat or call to get iPhone unlocked totally free.
Dear readers, I am glad that this unlock method is successful. After the contact, in less than 5 minutes the unlocking process for your iPhone will start.

How to get your AT&T iPhone unlocked:
Step 1: Check your Imei ( go to Settings -> General -> About -> and find your IMEI ).
Step 2: Navigate to AT&T’s support page, ( you need to be logged in with your AT&T account to do this). Now you can use Online Chat ( Click "Chat Now" ).
Step 3: You need to fill out the AT&T chat form with real detals.
Step 4: In the chat form type " I want to unlock iPhone 4" now Click Start Chat.
Step 5: Now you should explain to at&t support team that you need to unlock your iPhone, now you must provide your IMEI number.
Step 6: In this finally step, the AT&T support team will ask for your email address to provide you all unlock details. You are almost complete !
Note: Make sure you typed your information correctly, your unlock request could take a few days.

No more ultrasnow! No Gevey! No R-SIM! It worked 100%!!! After reading this post I called AT&T Customer service to get my iphone 4 unlocked.When I got through to an actual person on the phone I said that I wanted to unlock my iPhone 4 that wasnt on contract. The support team said sure and knew what I was talking about. After 20 min they asked for the IMEI number and transfered me to another person for support. The new person said she will see if im eleigible, after waiting 10 more min she said that my iPphone could be unlocked. At first she said there may be a 24 hours delay for the email. The lady from support said that my unlock was already processed and to check email for instructions. The email says to make sure that I have a working internet connection an to restore my iphone. My white iphone 4 had a Gevey with ios 4.3.3 and I didn't want to update so... this is what I did to unlock and stay on that old firmware! I made sure I backed up my phone 4 in itunes. I then used ireb5 to put iphone in dfu mode. Next I used Tinyumbrella and saw that I had ios 4.3.3 shsh blobs backed up. I checked advanced and set to cydia servers, after thi I started TSS server. Opened itunes and shift+restore, I picked the ios 4.3.3 (8J2) ipsw. After restoring my iphone 4 I got an error saying it couldn't restore (It had the plug for itunes). In my last step I ran fixrecover43 and waited to complete. After complette I plugged into itunes and it said that I need a sim to activate, Put in the Tmobile sim card without the Gevey sim and it works! Thanks AT&T, you finally did amazing right !

Guys, my cousin who lives in the U.S. gave me her number and password to access the account from AT & T. I just talk to a clerk who was really helpful. He asked some questions about the account, the device and requested the IMEI. If he find that it's all right, he send the process number and you wait for the unlock code in email. Now just wait and give this luxury ipod GOODBYE. I can`t get the number and password, because it was used. Good luck to all!
Hey, i just got off speaking with a representative, took 10 minutes after waiting in a line for about 20. Sorted got to wait for my email in 24-48 to follow instructions and then ill be all unlocked and ready to go!!! Yay, eventually having an iPhone again not an expensive iPod Touch!!!

I had this problem, yesterday, i got approved and then once i got transferred said i wasnt eligible. After arguing and getting annoyed they hung up on me. I called back and the next guy said there was no such thing they cant unlock phones. After having a friend try successfully online with his i thought what the heck, i am going to try. Did today and i got done no problems!! I think some of the regular workers not the technical support section are unaware of this new policy. I recommend doing it online or waiting a few days till the rush dies down!

i had to call twice the first lady didn't seem to want to do her job and the second time the man was very helpful. I called 800-331-0500 and i kept pressing 0 til i was transferred to an agent since i don't have ATT, i then explained to the guy that i brought the iphone off ebay and i was the second user, he took my name, number and email address, as well as explaining that he was checking the original account and if it was reported lost or stolen. Afterward he told me that i meet all the requirements and might be asked for proof of purchase( FYI for those who have purchased off ebay or anywhere similar make sure you have some proof just incase) He then told me that I should expect a response not later than Aprilt 17th. If you get a Agent that just asks for you name and imei just do what i did an call back and find someone who is going to do there job correctly

Apparently they can't handle all the requests, and since I have an iPhone 4S now on the phone number i had the iPhone 4 they are telling me I have to wait until THAT phone's contract is finished. So I'll take it to the store and see if I get anywhere. TOTAL idiots.

I think apple and at&t are unlocking all of the iphone 4 no matter if you have an account with them or not but it has to be not stolen or missing phone .I bought my phone I was in united states few months ago and don't have an account with at&t . I made my brother to call the at&t for me yesterday because the 1800 # wiuld not go through if calling outside united states.They went through the process and then they told him it should be a unlock in a few days and give him a case number for my phone. i called up AT&T and gave my imei number and all the details i got this iphone4 32 gb from amazon.com which i told him too and he just went in to check he imei and returned and replied that my iphone is not eligible for unlock... uptill now no 1 had this problem i guess... whats the solution???

Just Call the Att number and then say you bought it off of a friend and have your IEMI number ready and it worked for me.
What if I found the iPhone and don't know if the person still has contract or not. Also this iPhone is on 5.1 and baseband 4.12.01. Can I still get it unlock from apple? Just wondering? I really want to use this iPhone already!!!! Thank you!!!!

Ele disse que pediu um numero de telefone, ele não colocou e ficou esperando o chat iniciar. Disse que queria fazer o desbloqueio, passou e-mail e o IMEI somente. Good afternoon, the saddest thing is that many users are from Latin America as in my case I'm from Colmombia and we can not try either by chat At & t because when trying to access asks us a phone number or a number of contract. someone who can help us with this to at least try to at & t.
or someone to leave a phone number to get it to check in at & t.

I called them today and ask if I need to be AT&T customer so they can unlock it for me
the lady told me that I don't have to be
the only thing they want to know is that if the phone was stolen from someone, or if the phone's status is end of contract
another things is that the phone has to be and AT&T iphone and not verizon or other carrier
after the checking they told me that they will send me a e-mail in two days with the instruction of how to unlock it
so NO NEED TO BE A AT&T CUSTOMER
JUST CALL THEM AND ASK IF YOUR ARE ELIGIBLE or not

This solution is clearly for the people only in the US, as no one can make an AT&T account from outside the US. But a solution for this is buying Skype credit and calling AT&T from Skype.... maybe. no?
