A week ago, Chronic Dev Team has released Absinthe V2.0, which allows untethered jailbreak for iOS 5.1.1 firmware. Their exploit works on Mac, Windows and Linux operating systems, and is compatible with all iOS 5.1.1 devices, including iPhone 4S, iPad 2 and iPad 3.
Last week, hackers have released “Rocky Racoon”, that is integrated in the development of a Redsn0w 0.9.12b1 jailbreaking tool.
Redsn0w 0.9.12b1 allows you to jailbreak iOS 5.1.1 untethered on iPhone, iPad and iPod touch in DFU or in normal mode. Additionally, Redsn0w 0.9.12b1 supports the A5 devices, along with the older A4 devices. The most recent RedSn0w additionally packs in a new feature that allows you to upload SAM unlock activation tickets on your device throughout the initial ramdisk jailbreak procedure. For those who have backed-up their SAM unlock activation tickets, those tickets can be restored on their jailbroken iOS 5.1.1 using this updated version of Redsn0w.

We’ve also added a new redsn0w feature specifically for those who got in on the SAM unlock: you can now include your SAM tickets as part of your initial ramdisk jailbreak of iPhone4 or earlier, or alternatively you can upload your SAM tickets to any device after its been jailbroken. redsn0w accepts either the individual SAM activation ticket plist file, or the entire zip file created by redsn0w’s “Backup” button. As usual, redsn0w continues to cover all of its previous jailbreaks and untethers (so redsn0w-0.9.12b1 covers everything from 5.1.1 all the way back to 4.1).
