Absinthe 2.x is here, and now you can jailbreak your iDevice untethered on the most recent - iOS 5.1.1 firmware. While the jailbreaking part is being talked about, what about those who want to unlock iOS 5.1.1 on their jailbroken iPhones?

Ultrasn0w fixer 5.1.1 to unlock your iPhone 4 / iPhone 3GS — Here is how to do it:
- Step 1: Use latest Absinthe to jailbreak untethered.
- Step 2: From Cydia, go to Manage > Sources
- Step 3: Tap the Add icon, and enter the following URL: http://repo.iparelhos.com/
- Step 4: Install Ultrasn0w fixer 5.1.1.
- Step 5: Search and install the latest ultarsn0w till now i.e 1.2.5.

For those who saved tickets can unlock through SAM 5.1.1 activation backup:
- Step 1: Jailbreak using Absinthe 2.0.
- Step 2: Install SAM 5.1.1
- Step 3: Revert Lockdown to stock
- Step 4: Save the activation backup ticket to the path: /var/root/Library/Lockdown
- Step 5: Reboot the device
- Step 6: Disable SAM
- Step 7: Reboot, your iOS 5.1.1 device is now unlocked and signals will appear.

If you have the saved Lockdown folder, you don't need to install SAM again. Only insert the filder with iFunbox or SSH ;)

I am waiting over 6months now for unlocking my iPhone 4 04.11.08 locked to Three Ireland network.. Its ironic, because I used SAM for sim card owned by a company I worked for. I had to give it back few days after SAM was blocked. Now I am with my locked iPhone 4 again.. How many days, weeks or months do I have to wait again??

Fellas If you dont want to wait days months or years for a Unlock method just call damn ATT. If you have had or know someone that has or has had AT&T for over 2 years and your Iphone is passed the contract Then just ask them to call them and say something like my friend gave me his Iphone and I want to unlock it. They should do it no problem and then just plug it into Itunes and it should say its unloocked. Thats what i did to mine and now i have an Iphone 4 with iOS 5.1.1 that it on Tmobile

Hi i have unlockEd with sam on bb 4.11.08 i wanted to know how i can preseve my baseband? I have tried this with redsnow for fw5.1.1 with no luck, or can i just update to 5.1.1 with its current bb and still unlock with my backedup ticket?

you need to save the activation ticket with the latest redsn0w (more->even more-> backup!)
...and then yes, you do this:
Step 1: Locate the SIM card that was used during the initial unlock process. This is the unofficial SIM card, not the SIM that was provided by the official network.
Step 2: Open up the iFile app on your iPhone and use it to navigate to the /var/root/Library directory. If you don’t have iFile installed, it is available as a package from within Cydia with a free limited feature trial.
Step 3: When you are in the directory mentioned above, select the ‘Edit‘ button in the top right hand corner of the iFile user interface. When the directory is in edit mode, select the Lockdown folder.
Step 4: With the Lockdown folder selected, press the zip button to create a compressed file backup of the Lockdown folder. Once the zip file has been created, make sure to name it something that will distinguish it and is rememberable.
Step 5: Scroll to the bottom of the current directory and make sure that your zip file has been created and is available. If it is, then delete the entire Lockdown folder using the trashcan icon.
Step 6: Bring up your Dropbox folders and locate the Lockdown folder that contains the valid activation ticket, created by the unofficial SIM card that was used during the unlock process. Open up the recently created zip file using the iFile app once again and select the ‘Unarchiver‘ option.
Step 7: The contents of the zip file will now be extracted and dumped into the default directory, which in most instances is the Documents folder.
Step 8: Once again, select ‘Edit‘ in the top right hand corner of the iFile user interface before selecting Lockdown, and press the clipboard icon which would in turn copy the Lockdown folder. Tap the ‘Done‘ button.
Step 9: Still in iFile, navigate to /var/root/Library and select ‘Edit‘. Select the clipboard icon and then tap ‘Paste‘ before tapping the ‘Done’ button.
Step 10: If you still have the SAMPrefs package installed on the device, then navigate to /User/Library/Preferences and search for SAM. When found, make sure to delete the com.bingner.sam.plist file if you can find it (it may not exist in some cases). The purpose of this is to make sure that everything goes smoothly without any conflicts.
Step 11: Turn the device off, making sure that it is powered down entirely.
Step 12: Turn the iPhone back on and wait until it loads all the way to the home screen. After the device gains a network connection, it should be with the carrier of the unofficial SIM card.

hi there, thanks for all the info, but im still abit confused. i had already saved my ticket with cookie and with redsnow and just to be sure "ifiled it to my dropbox account. now i want to know if i can update without being able to save my current baseband with redsnow,(cause i have tried this with no luck) and still be able to use my ticket on the current baseband that is being used for firmware 5.1.1. i am not sure what basband firmware 5.1.1 is using. if its 4.11.08 then i should be fine. cause thats the baseband i was able to unlock it with SAM. i hope this is clear. please let me know if not.. appreciate your help. thanks.
I used snowbreeze to get the custom ispw installed on the phone and then i restored it using itunes after that i installed ultrasnow fixer and then ultrasnow in that order...but it wont accept my sim carrier.. the baseband is 04.11.08...someone please tell me whats wrong..

yes it is... after update, i jailbreack my iphone 4S, and i installed the app "cookie" from Cydia and i restore the backup made before... ;) it's even easier than with SAM...
