We’ve already given you the download links and jailbreak guide for the latest iOS firmware; iOS 6.1.2. Today, we are going to cover iOS 6.1.2 unlocking and basebands review for Apple’s latest OS offering.

We’re going to cover all unlocking methods that have been released till now, which include SAM unlock, Gevey SIM, ultrasn0w and not to forget, the IMEI factory unlock solution for iOS 6.1.2 devices.

iOS 6.1.2 basebands on iPhone 5, 4S, 3GS and iPhone 4

Many of you may be aware, but those who aren’t, they should know the baseband gets updated along with firmware updates. However, iPhone 3GS, 4 and 4S users get to keep older basebands by creating a custom firmware. Here’s the complete iOS 6.1.2 basebands list:

  • iPhone 5 – baseband 03.04.25
  • iPhone 4S – baseband 3.4.01
  • iPhone 3GS – baseband 05.16.08
  • iPhone 4 – baseband 4.12.05

How to Unlock iOS 6.1.2 with Ultrasn0w 1.2.8

Ultrasn0w unlockers can use ultrasn0w 1.2.8 to unlock iOS 6.1.2. To do so, the baseband needs to be preserved with custom firmware. For more details, you can check out our official utlrasn0w 1.2.8 tutorial.

Unlock iOS 6.1.2 Using R-SIM 7 / 6, Gevey SIM or X-SIM

We haven’t so great news for Gevery SIM, X-SIM and R-SIM users as they can’t unlock on the latest firmware, and if they update, the device is going to get re-locked. If you are user with 4.10.01 baseband you can preserve the baseband and update to iOS 6.1.2 to get working Gevey sim on your iPhone 4. If you’re one of those who rely on this unlock, keep far away from the iOS 6.1.2 update.

Unlock iOS 6.1.2 Using SAM Unlock Tickets

Sam unlock users who have saved activation tickets have hope. Users with saved tickets can unlock the device on iOS 6.1.2 at any moment. If there’s no ticket saved, the device shouldn’t be updated to latest firmwares. iPhone 3GS, 4 and 4S users can follow our guide to untethered jailbreak iOS 6.1.2 firmware and restore the SAM unlock tickets.

Factory Unlock iOS 6.1.2 iPhone 5, 4, 3GS, or via IMEI Code

Out of all the unlocking methods that we’ve highlight so far, factory unlock is the best method for iOS 6.1.2. This IMEI-based solution is permanent, and sweats of re-locking no longer worry the users. Furthermore, the device can be updated to latest firmwares and basebands, as the IMEI is saved in Apple’s database.

There are many services that claim to provide this same service, but our recommendation is the most reliable and affordable. They can unlock AT&T, Sprint, Rogers, Vodafone, Fido, O2, Orange and other famous carriers in the world on all iOS firmwares including iOS 6.1.2, 6.1.1, 6.1, 6.0 and below. i don’t want to lose the use of my phone. thanks.

  • vanjo tapang

Is it okay to post it here?

  • kenzo

yes you can update your phone without preserving your baseband, but make sure you have the sim card that the phone is locked to, so you can activate your phone. Or else you would be stuck in the activation screen.

  • Starfish

Hi! I read somewhere that Apple blocked the SAM unlocking solution… Is this a NEW way of doing it?
And did anyone try this recently?

  • Tiago Paulo

i update my iphone 4 without baseband, i restore ticket SAM it works fine, but if power of the iphone in next time the iphone carrier not work, show “invalid sim” how to fix? I am saddened by this error

  • UnlockBoot

Use your Original sim card – (the unofficial sim card used when you backed up your sam tickets).

  • UnlockBoot

Yes, SAM not work anymore if you don’t have activation tickets. You can use factory unlocking service, this solution is permanent.

  • Starfish

    Thank you for your time!
Unfortunately I can’t afford the factory unlock.. That’s why I’m trying to do it myself…
I don’t want to sound stupid.. (I’m totally new with all these)…
Just to be clear, I’d like to ask a few question and I’d appreciate your input…

    1. Do I have to have SAM app already installed on the phone before starting this process? (Planning to try the 1st method)…

    2. I have to save (backup) SAM tickets using Cookies App with my original SIM card (that is locked to my current carrier)… Right?

    3. Then I open it again with (let’s say) a foreign simcard and RESTORE it with this new simcard.. Right?

    4. If I understood it right and it works this way, then is the phone usable with ANY simcard? or is it just unlocked for that foreign simcard only?

    Thanks again

  • Amed

  • Stephan G-rated Istandout Wall

replace lockdown folder with what? i dont get it.. is it wit the backed up activation tickets? if so, how do i find them to replace lockdown folder? plz help for i am stuck at this “replace lockdown folder” stage

i unlocked my iphone 4s with sam.. but my problem is, it cannot make any calls or text. and whenever i connect it to itunes, its saying my sim card is invalid.. please help me for i am lost to this.

  • CharlieC

So I was unlocked with SAM then installed the cookie app and backed up my activation, after I updated my phone through itunes the normal way and when done it was still unlocked. Did not need to jailbreak it or anything. I have a iPhone 4 that was on iOS 5.0.1 BB 04.11.08. I just left the new unlocked sim in the whole time.

  • Starfish

So??? I guess no body bothers answering 🙁

  • Phani

what should we replace the lockdownfolder with? please clarify this one doubt i am having regarding this SAM unlock method.. i am stuck with this iPhn 4 BB 4.12.05 with iOS 6.1.2… i have backed up activation ticket too…

  • khalid

Just tried but never succed! No service always. I have Iphone 4 already unlocked by SAM, and saved the tickets. I was able to restore my tickets in iOS 6.1, but could’n do it with 6.1.2 , I’ve tried by cookie , or by manually replacing the lockdown folder , but without succes! Can you confirm that it works with iOS 6.1.2? thanks

  • Ivo Stefanoff

SAM ticket restore is working on 6.1.2 but NEVER user ‘hacktivating’ during jailbreak. Make custom firmware with Sn0wbreeze but don’t check ‘hactivate’ option. You should activate via iTunes with locked carrier sim card. Enjoy. P.S. Tested from me!

  • H4CKER

Everyone. Who wants to upgrade their ph to iOS 6.xx should preserve the baseband befor jailbreak and update as this will allow u to go back to its current stage. This unlock methods would only work if you have the Sam activation ticket and the SIM which was used during the Sam unlock last yr. do not try to update from iTunes or directly from ur ph without preserving your baseband. Good luck

  • H4CKER

Yes you should always preserve your baseband. So you can go back to its current stage

  • piju

I could update from 5.0.1 to 6.1.2 and restore my 2nd sim card easily. After jailbreak with original sim inside I made the backup from my 5.0.1 image with Itunes, I installed SAM, Cookie, opened Cookie, put 2nd sim inside, cookie found the backuped activation ticket from cloud and after one second I could make a call with 2nd ( none-original) sim. Great!

  • Es
