The iPhone is nothing if not very easy to use and the latest iPhone X is no exception. All one has to do is tap the side button to lock or wake the handset. Two clicks will straight up open Apple Pay while holding it down will activate Siri. However, the question of how to turn off iPhone X still remains. For most other iPhones this can be done simply by holding down the side button until the slide to power off slider appears.

Things are a little different on the iPhone X. Five taps to the side button succeeds in activating Emergency SOS but it is possible to add more click gestures for different options such as Accessibility Shortcuts. However, dabbling in them can cause accidental function activations.

1. Turn Off iPhone X Using Volume Up and Side Button

The simple way to turn off iPhone X is to simply press and hold the side button until the power off slider appears. Another method is to long press the side button and either the volume button together simultaneously. If you don’t hold both down for the appropriate amount of time you will just end up taking a screenshot.

2. Power Off iPhone X from Settings

It is also possible to shut down your iPhone X directly from Settings as well, in case you don’t like button mashing. To do so just open the Settings app and tap on General before scrolling down and tapping on the Shut Down button. What this will do is bring up the slide to power off slider again.

How to Restart iPhone X

After you have learned how to turn off iPhone X the next step is just to restart it. Again restarting it is pretty easy. All you have to do is press and hold the side button for a few seconds, on the other hand you can plug it into a PC with a Lightning Cable which will charge it and also serve to turn the iPhone X on.

However, there is a different method to use as well, called Assistive Touch. The iPhone X will provide the option to add a restart option to the Assistive Touch menu so that you can restart your device with just a few taps on the screen.

It really is that easy to shut down and then restart the iPhone X. Please share your thoughts and views in the comments section below and don’t forget to follow us!
