How to unlock 04.11.08 baseband ? When Apple seeded a  pre-release build of their upcoming iOS 5.1 update to developers couple of days ago, this build was released to test some bug fixes which Apple promises to fix in their upcoming update.

Unfortunately this iOS 5.1 didn't fix battery issues and other minor bugs but an interesting thing about iOS 5.1 is that a new baseband has been introduced, bb 04.12.00.


04.11.08 Unlock - there are thousands of people are still stuck on 04.11.08 baseband and there's no solution available to unlock it right now. Without any solution to Unlock 04.11.08  baseband on iPhone 4 it's hard put a guess on iOS 5.1's baseband 04.12.00 unlock. Luckily iOS 5.1 update is still not public which means -- a lot  people don't have access to iOS  5.1 update which gives us a window to warn people who are currently stuck on iOS 5's baseband 04.11.08 that Don't Update To iOS 5.1.

Though there's no unlock available for both these basebands but there's still a hope that basebadn 04.11.08 will get unlocked in coming weeks but we have nothing about baseband 04.12.00 unlock. So it;s better to stay safe and where ever you are right now.

How to Jailbreak iPhone 4S & iPad 2 iOS 5.0.1 On Windows With CLI ? As most of you know, the Chronic Dev Team released a new jailbreak tool known as GreenPois0n Absinthe to jailbreak iPhone 4S and iPad 2 running on iOS 5.0.1.

 Absinthe Jailbreak Tool is available for Win and Mac OS X users. That's why the iPhone Dev Team released a new tool called CLI (Command Link) for both Windows and Mac OS X to allow both Windows and Mac OS X users to do their jailbreak.

Jailbreak iPhone 4S / iPad 2 on Windows

The iPhone 4S, can be jailbroken on both iOS 5.0 and iOS 5.0.1 firmware untethered. On the other hand, the iPad 2 can only be untethered jailbroken on iOS 5.0.1.

Before you start, make sure that you have updated your device and created a backup so that you can restore your apps, photos, media, contacts and everything. Also unlock your device by typing the passcode if necessary.

STEP 1: Download CLI Absinthe for Windows and Mac OS X.

STEP 2: Unzip the folder named cinject_0.4.3 into the system folder, i.e. C:\.

STEP 3: Now go to the start menu, click on run and type in cmd.exe (open command prompt)

STEP 4: In the command window, type: CD C:\cinject_0.4.3 as shown to get into the required folder.

STEP 5: You'll now need to execute CLI. Do this by typing: cinject.exe -i payloads/jailbreak.mobileconfig (Press Enter)

STEP 6: Now execute cinject.exe -j payloads and wait for the backup.

STEP 7: Finally execute the command cinject.exe -w.

STEP 8: Get in your device and tap on Absinthe icon to get your jailbreak done in few minutes.

How to Fix 1266 Fetal error on Windows Jailbreak iPhone 4s on iOS 5.0.1 with Cinjict Jailbreak windows Software.
Running into a problem. When I run the:
cinject -i payloads/jailbreak.mobileconfig
It goes through the script and then I get an error message at the bottom:
recv: Bad File Discriptor
FATAL(–LINE–): Assertion Failed (1266): got = = sizeof(Size)1266




If i continue and use the
cinject -j payloads
cinject -w
it runs through the rest of the script but never reboots and does not jailbreak…any suggestions.

Fix 1266 Fatal Error Answer:

I was initially getting error 1266 as a lot of people.
As suggested by other users, I backed my phone up using iTunes.
First Remove any Passcode for iPhone
Once that was done, I went to my phone Settings –> General –> Reset –> Erase All Content and Settings.

The phone reboots and you have to go through the activation etc, it’s basically a new phone. Connect it up to your PC using the USB and follow the steps to Jailbreak your device.
The backup created by the Jailbreak should take a few seconds (the phone has been reset and is therefore empty) and you should not encounter any errors.

Once that was done, I disconnected the USB cable and went and launched Cydia and let it do its initial setup.

I then launched iTunes, plugged in my iPhone and was prompted with the page of “Set up iPhone as new” or “Restore from backup.”

Select the backup you created earlier, let it restore, and you are now running a successfully Jailbroken iPhone with all of your content !  We hope you would be satisfied with this tutorial ?

Well, MuscleNerd of iPhone Dev-team has just announced today about the release of Redsn0w 0.9.10 b4 to fix iBooks issue after 5.0.1 untethered jailbreak.

Dev-team was managed to merge Corona 1.0-5 into Redsn0w 0.9.10 b4

The b4 version of redsn0w incorporates the 5.0.1 fix for iBooks, and also for sporadic problems with launchctl. Thanks to @xvolks for merging the iBooks (sandbox) fix from @comex’s github into the overall corona untether from @pod2g! As usual, you can choose to install the fix either by re-running redsn0w over your existing jailbreak (de-select Cydia if you do that), or by installing the corona package from Cydia (it’s the same set of files no matter which way you choose).TIP: If auto-detection fails and redsn0w tells you no identifying data was found, you can always pre-select the appropriate 5.0.1 IPSW using “Extras->Select IPSW”.

You’ll need to remove it and reinstall iBooks, in case you have already installed xBooks tweak on your jailbroken iOS device for iBooks fix. Make sure you de-select “Install Cydia” and do a controlled “slide to power off” shutdown of your device before running redsn0w 0.9.10b4.

By design, CRC’s are designed to detect even the most subtle changes in a file. The CRC of both basebands above is identical: BB35A14A. Despite the time difference in the *file creation times*, the *file contents* are identical. The CRC shows that.
Simple conclusion: this particular faker is missing the most fundamental knowledge of programming. He’s a dumb scammer seeking attention.
This faker’s next move will be to either post a completely unrelated video showing nothing relevant, or saying he’s too busy “working for free” to make a 30-second video.
I really don’t understand what drives these fakers.

This comments elucidates the real story behind this unlock and not only MuscleNerd explained it but Sharif Hashim the person behind Ultrasn0w unlock also posted that this guy is a fake.

He mentioned it in a series of tweets earlier today that he has no link to Hamzah Akram nor he is in any kind of communication with him. Moreover he also condoned MuscleNerd’s comment on Hamzah Akram’s blog.

Acts like this does not help find any kind of solution to a problem, as a matter of fact such acts demotivate people who work really hard to bring amazing and free unlocking tools for your iPhone. MuscleNerd also said something similar in a follow up comment on the same blog.

Desperate fakers like this guy impede and demotivate progress. Ironic, isn’t it?

Sahrif Hashim is working on an unlock for iPhone 4 which also includes baseband 04.11.08. There is no deadline or exact date of it’s release but it is being worked on.

The best you can do here is wait for the REAL people to come up with some sort of solution for this problem. I personally request you guys to stop helping such people in any way.

Saurik has announced that an update to the Corona Untethered Jailbreak has been released in Cydia.

The update fixes issues for iBooks and launchd and it's recommended that users who previously jailbroke their A4 devices install the Corona package from Cydia.

Corona (5.0.1 untether) 1.0-4 is now out: users of redsn0w or the older packages should install. This fixes both iBooks and launchd (again).

As a quick refresher, Sherif Hashim is expert in baseband hacking and have discovered AT+XAPP vulnerability in the modem firmware in past.

This exploit was then used by iPhone Dev Team in ultrasn0w 1.0-1 and 1.2 to unlock the X-Gold 608 basebands 4.26.08, 5.11.07, 5.12.01, 5.13.04 and 6.15.00 (ultrasn0w 1.2 only), and XMM 6180 baseband 1.59.00. Last week chpwn, the well-known figure in the jailbreaking community, launched the first legal port for Siri called Spire.

The download of Spire from Cydia would download approximately 100 megabytes of data from Apple, and would give the entire Siri components into your iDevice, including the GUI and frameworks.
One problem though- it required a Siri proxy - gateway to communicate with Apple servers.
