Apple has officially announced three new phones: the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and its first foldable iPhone, the iPhone Duo. The two Pro models arrive first, followed by the iPhone Duo in October. Prices start at $1,199 for the iPhone 18 Pro, $1,299 for the Pro Max, and $1,999 for the Duo.

iPhone Duo
The iPhone Duo is the biggest addition to Apple’s 2026 lineup. It’s Apple’s first foldable iPhone, with a 5.4-inch outer screen you can use without opening the phone. Unfold it like a book, and you get a larger 7.6-inch screen with more room for apps, videos, and multitasking.
Prices start at $1,999 for 256GB of storage. It comes in two colors: Star White and Night Sky.

You can preorder the iPhone Duo starting Friday, October 16, and it goes on sale Friday, October 23.
The folding screen isn’t the only difference. The Duo uses Apple’s new A20 Pro chip and has two 48MP cameras on the back: a Main camera for everyday photos and an Ultra Wide camera for fitting more into the frame. There’s no dedicated Telephoto camera for longer-range zoom, so one of the Pro models may be a better choice if camera zoom matters to you.
The Duo also uses Touch ID instead of the Face ID system found on other recent iPhones. The fingerprint reader is built into the side button, so you can unlock the phone with your finger. It’s also eSIM-only worldwide, which means there’s no physical SIM card tray.
Apple says support for the USB-C Apple Pencil is coming later this year. Combined with the larger 7.6-inch inner screen, that gives you the option to use the Duo more like a small tablet for writing or drawing.
iPhone 18 Pro Max
The iPhone 18 Pro Max starts at $1,299 for 256GB of storage. That’s $100 more than the smaller Pro model. It comes in four colors: Burgundy, Glacier, Silver, and Black.

Preorders start Saturday, September 12, and the phone goes on sale Friday, September 18.
The Pro Max has a 6.9-inch screen and uses Apple’s new A20 Pro chip. Its camera system includes a 48MP Main camera with a variable aperture, which changes how much light enters the camera depending on the shot. You also get an Ultra Wide camera and a Telephoto camera for zoomed-in shots.
The Pro Max has the longest battery life of the three. Apple rates it for up to 45 hours of video playback, compared with up to 36 hours on the smaller iPhone 18 Pro.
iPhone 18 Pro
The iPhone 18 Pro starts at $1,199 for 256GB of storage. It comes in the same four colors as the Pro Max: Burgundy, Glacier, Silver, and Black.

The iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max go up for preorder Saturday, September 12. Stores will have them Friday, September 18.
You get a smaller 6.3-inch screen on the iPhone 18 Pro, but other things like the chip and cameras stay the same as the Pro Max. There’s the A20 Pro chip, the variable-aperture Main camera, and the Ultra Wide and Telephoto cameras, all carried over.
With that said, you do give up some size, weight, and battery life. Compared to the Pro Max, the Pro weighs 211 grams against 249 grams. Apple also rates it for up to 36 hours of video playback instead of 45. So it comes down to trading a bit of size and battery for a lighter phone that saves you $100.
Which New iPhone Should You Get?
Honestly speaking, it’s a matter of preference and how much you want to spend.
For example, the Pro at $1,199 sounds good if you want a phone that’s smaller and easier to carry around all day. It still runs the A20 Pro chip, still has the new Main camera with variable aperture, plus the Ultra Wide and Telephoto cameras. It weighs 211 grams, and battery life runs up to 36 hours of video.
Meanwhile, the Pro Max costs $1,299, a hundred dollars more, and makes sense if a bigger screen and longer battery life matter to you. That extra money gets you a 6.9-inch screen and battery life up to 45 hours of video. It weighs 249 grams, but everything else matches the Pro.
In simple terms, you can go smaller and save some cash with the Pro, or go bigger and get more battery with the Pro Max.
Pssst… there’s another option available in the form of iPhone Duo. Costing $1,999, it’s the latest introduction to Apple’s lineup, with a sleek, foldable design. Just know that it uses Touch ID instead of Face ID and doesn’t have the dedicated Telephoto camera found on the Pro models.
