Ultra high resolution 4K videos can be recorded with the new iPhone cameras, but the functionality is not activated by default. The user first has to enable super HD recording feature through the camera settings of the device. The feature is not activated by default because the iPhone requires a lot of storage space to capture 4K videos. The default video is recorded at 1080p at 30 FPS. - Launch Settings > Photos & Camera.
- Go to “Camera” & tap “Record Video”.
- Choose “4K at 30 fps” to activate 4K video recording.
- Exit Settings.

After enabling 4K video capture, you can use the default camera app to capture ultra high resolution 4K videos. The corner of the screen will display the “4K” badge before and during recording. The resolution is so high that some TVs can display the video properly.
By the way, you can take images while the video is being recorded. Also, when you switch to 4K video, the setting changes from SD to HD.
- 720p video for 60 MB.
- 1080p HD video at 30 FPS for 130 MB (default).
- 1080p HD video at 60 FPS for 200 MB.
- 4K resolution for 375 MB.
So 4K takes up 3x storage space compared to default option, and 6x more than 720p. Therefore, any 4K videos recorded can be transferred to the PC. Make sure you have free space to accommodate the size of the video.

Users who don’t have iPhone 6s, 6s plus, 7 or 7 plus can modify the quality of the video by choosing the third option (1080p HD at 60FPS). It can play on televisions and monitors because most of them are in par at this resolution, but clearly the future of video recording lies in 4K.
