Apple iPhones have always depended on SIM card removal tools for taking the SIM card out. While the technology proves to be very efficient and secure, removing the SIM card from an iPhone actually turns out to be an issue when a removal tool is not around. At least for most people! A lot of the iPhone users don’t know how to remove the SIM card without any SIM removal tool, but it’s an important life hack that at least every iPhone owner should know. With the latest iPhone 7, the iPhones have gotten bigger but the SIM removal procedure remains pretty much the same.

So if you don’t have an iPhone SIM removal tool handy, here are five ways you can still pull the SIM out and push in a new one if necessary.

5 Methods to Eject iPhone SIM card Without Tool

These five methods should help you out in a situation where you don’t have a SIM card ejection tool, but need to eject the SIM out of your iPhone 7 Plus, 7, 6S Plus, 6S, 6+, 6, 5C, 5, 5S, 4S, 4, iPhone SE or iPad.

1. Use Paperclip to Remove SIM Card from your iPhone or iPad

If you are in a classroom or office environment, chances are you can find plenty of paperclips around you. Look for the non-isolated ones, the ones that look like steel. Straighten the paper clip since a bent paperclip won’t be of any use in this case. The paperclip has a diameter almost same as the iPhone’s original SIM ejecting tool, thus it should go through the ejection hole. Press firmly and gently through the hole unless the SIM tray comes off its slot. Now you could pull the tray by your fingers and replace the SIM if needed.

2. Use Push Pin to remove SIM from iPhone

Push pins may not be all that hard to find like you think. Do you see any notice board around? Chances are, someone has just pinned a new notice on the board with a push pin. As long as you intend to return the pin, the office staff should not mind. Borrow the pin off the board, put it through the SIM ejection tray hole on your iPhone and wait until the SIM tray comes off. Now you will see the No SIM Card Installed message on your screen. The push pins have long enough pin-space in front of them to replicate a SIM ejection tool. This is one of the safest methods to remove SIM card from iPhone without a tool.

3. Use Safety Pin to Eject SIM from iPhone without Tool

Safety pins are in fact the best life hack tool for iPhone or any smartphone SIM ejection. Needles would do the same job but they are pointy on both ends and you could prick your finger if you aren’t careful enough. If you have just grabbed a safety pin, open the pointy end and do what you need to do. Done!

3. Use Staple to Remove SIM from iPhone without Eject Tool

Fragile than the other options we have mentioned, so be a little careful while using a staple pin to open the SIM tray on your iPhone and remove the SIM card. There’s a risk of pricking yourself or breaking the safety pin inside your phone’s SIM card housing. If you need to use staples, you better be extra careful. However, it’s a life saving tool if you can’t find any other way to remove the SIM card from your iPhone.

4. Use Earring to Remove Sim Card from iPhone

If you can’t find any other tool, then you can use earring to remove the SIM card from your iPhone. We recommend you to use an inexpensive jewelry because it can be damaged when you use it to remove the sim tray.

5. Other tools to remove SIM card from your iPhone

  • Use Sewing Pin to remove the SIM tray on your iPhone.
  • Use Toothpick to remove the SIM from your device.
  • Use Mechanical Pen to remove SIM card from your iPhone.

How to Remove a Stuck SIM card from your iPhone

All you need to do is to take a small tiny pice of plastic or paper and put it in the sim tray above the sim card. Then use the sim ejector tool to remove the sim tray. Now you can get out the stuck sim card from your device. Watch the video below to know more about this:
